When does the child start sitting

Child growth
Every woman watches with impatience the date of her birth, and after she gives birth, she begins to wait for the physical and sensory changes that begin to appear on her child day after day, after he spends his first months stretched on his back, and tries to find out what is around him through his looks, the child begins to try to sit and raise his head To see his parents who are the focus of his attention
Ways to help the child sit
- In the first month of the child’s life, it is preferable for the child to be placed on his stomach for a short period of time every day. Over time, the child begins to try to raise his head, and this helps to strengthen his back and neck muscles.
- Between the third and fourth months, the child will be able to raise his head better than before, the mother can place a pillow under the child's abdomen, and the child will raise his head, resting on his hands.
- In the period between the fifth and sixth months, the child becomes able to sit with the help of his mother, and in this period his back is stronger and he can sit with a pillow under his back, and it is preferable for the mother not to leave him alone, and to stay by his side for fear of being subjected to falling, as it must be placed on a furnished floor And not to be around him any tools that may harm him.
- At the beginning of the seventh or eighth month, a child is often able to flip left and right while he is on his stomach, and then begins to sit better and at the end of the eighth month, most children can sit on their own constantly, and the child may be able to move forward to discover what is around him or to reach the threshold. Therefore, all tools that might cause harm should be kept away from him for fear that he will reach them, and after the child becomes able to sit on his own, he begins to try to crawl or crawl in preparation for walking that often takes place when the child completes his first year.
In the event that the child does not sit at the specified age
If the child has reached the ninth month and he cannot sit yet, the doctor must be consulted, he may have a delay in acquiring this skill, especially if the child was born before its natural date, i.e. in the seventh or eighth month, as for the child who does not show any signs of sitting or the ability to raise His head, when lying on his stomach, may have a problem with the brain that causes him delayed movement, which requires treatment in one of the centers devoted to physical therapy for such cases, which are called cases of cerebral motor paralysis.
